• 10 P’s that help define us. Undoubtedly, some other words could work too. Though not exhaustive, these words are explanatory, and a good idea of what to expect:
  1. Preaching – This is the heart of all we do. “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe” (I Cor. 1:21). The sermon is the longest part of our Sunday service. It is of the utmost importance for God’s people to hear God’s Word spoken by God’s man (Eph. 4:11-15, I Tim. 4:12-16).
  2. Prayer – God’s house is to be a house of prayer (Isa. 56:7, Matt. 21:13). We are now this house, both individually and corporately (I Cor. 6:19-20, Eph. 2:19-22, Heb. 3:6). In dependence and faith, we seek to obey our Lord’s command to His church: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men” (I Tim. 2:1).
  3. Praise – “Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord” (Ps. 150:6). When we begin to grasp the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we cannot help but to praise Him more (Ps. 119:7). By grace, we hope that our songs, words, prayers, fellowship, offerings, and lives, “Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name” (Ps. 29:2).
  4. Psalms – We read from the psalms each Sunday together, and often in Bible study settings too. We cannot get enough of the comfort, courage, and confidence they bring to God’s people.
  5. Patriotism – We love our nation, just as the Prophets and Apostles loved theirs (Rom. 9:1-3). We love freedom because we love Christ who sets us free (John 8:32, 36, Gal. 5:1). We firmly oppose secularism, socialism, and globalism. We will not bow to woke tyrants who wish they were God, yet “shall die like men” (Ps. 82:7). We call them and all to repent and follow Christ. For, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Prov. 14:34).
  6. Patriarchy – We completely reject feminism and the “Jezebel spirit” in the church and culture today (Rev. 2:20-23). We understand God has called men to lead, not arbitrarily, but by design (I Tim. 2:8-3:7). Where godly men lead, women are cherished, families thrive, and nations flourish. We exhort men to be men (Neh. 4:9-23, Ps. 144:1, I Cor. 16:13, Eph. 5:25, 6:4, I Tim. 2:8, 5:8, 6:11-12), and women to be women (Prov. 31:10-31, Tit. 2:3-5). We celebrate the beauty, glory, and wisdom of God’s created order (I Cor. 11:2-16).
  7. Perseverance – Our Lord said, “He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” (Matt. 24:13). Though life is hard, and suffering is sure (John 15:18-21, 2 Tim. 3:12), God’s grace remains sufficient (I Cor. 15:10, 2 Cor. 12:9). In grace, we continue on. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Cor. 5:7). Whatever comes, we strive to, “Trust in the Lord, and do good” (Ps. 37:3), knowing God is with us always (Matt. 28:20, Heb. 13:5).
  8. Posterity – While acknowledging this present world system is not our final home (Phil. 3:20, Heb. 11:13-16, 2 Pet. 3:13), it is our current one. As such, we enjoy our Savior’s abundant life (John 10:10), while doing the good work of furthering His Kingdom (I Cor. 10:31, Eph. 2:10, Tit. 2:14, 3:1, 8, 14). We encourage marriage and children, planning and ministry. We do not frown upon the ambition of those who would build for the future. We applaud it (Prov. 13:22). Jesus commanded, “Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13). We intend to.
  9. Pugnacious – There is a time for all things (Ecc. 3:1). “A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace” (Ecc. 3:8). Though we long for peace, we are ready to fight (Rom. 12:18). We are soldiers of Jesus Christ (Eph. 6:10-18, 2 Tim. 2:3-4), those who, “Earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3). Our victory is sure. For Christ is King, and His church shall prevail (Ps. 2, Matt. 16:18).
  10. Playful – We believe in having fun. We joke around, goof around, and never take ourselves too seriously. “He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast” (Prov. 15:15). None have more reason to be merry than Christians (Ps. 27:13-14). “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice” (Phil. 4:4). To that we say, Amen and amen.
